Description
To address the food MSMEs’ concerns, the Department of Science and Technology CALABARZON Region and the DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center have conceptualized and implemented the project “Design and Development of Deployable Food Hub”. Under the leadership of the former DOST-CALABARZON Regional Director, Dr. Alexander R. Madrigal, with the guidance of the former Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations, Dr. Lydia S. Manguiat, a food safety-compliant and mobile food processing hub was realized.
The DOST Technology in the Region for the Upscaling of Community Knowledge or DOSTRUCK – CALABARZON’s mobile food processing hub hopes to address the perennial problem of food MSMEs which is the inability to comply with the regulatory agency’s requirements on food processing facilities. It provides a temporary facility to those MSMEs, cooperative, or associations who do not have their own food safety-compliant facility. It comes with technical assistance on product development and food safety training. The DOST MIRDC, Cavite STate University, LGU-Magallanes, Cavite, and PSTC Cavite will continue their assessment and evaluation to the pilot operation of DOSTRUCK to ensure that continual improvements will be done in the facility and the program.
