Description

The Philippines, given its geographical location, is considered prone to disaster events. Located east of the Philippines is the Western Pacific Ocean region where typhoons and tropical cyclones are formed. As such, the DOST-CALABARZON through the DOST Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program turned over Automatic Identification System (AIS)-equipped Fiberglass Rescue Boats to the Municipality of Tingloy, Batangas last 7 October 2022, and to the Municipalities of Quezon and Perez, Quezon last 11 October 2022. The provision of these boats aims to support the establishment of an effective disaster response and improve the communities’ disaster’s resilience, considering also that they are situated in Geographically-Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
