Description

These are new breeds of Philippine native chicken which are purified through breeding and selection. Bolinao native chicken is predominant in the Ilocos region, while the Caraga Black native chicken, locally known as “patani” chicken has unique morphological characteristics because of its black plumage, comb, skin, and meat. It has a distinct taste and is resilient to extremes of climate. The black skin color is due to higher pigmentation that may be associated with nutrients that have antioxidant property. The unique characteristics are expected to create a high demand for this particular native chicken.
