IT’S HAPPENING: The 14th Los Baños SyenSaya Science Festival 2022

The Los Baños Science Community Foundation, Inc. (LBSCFI) will be holding the 14th SyenSaya: Los Baños Science Festival with the theme, “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kaakibat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan,” from 5 to 7 December 2022 in a hybrid setup event. 

SyenSaya, commonly dubbed as Los Baños Science Festival, is LBSCFI’s annual celebration of DOST’s National Science and Technology Week. The said celebration, which started in 2008, is composed of three (3) main events: Wonderama Exhibit, Technology Forum, and Research and Development (R&D) Awarding.

The festival will open on 5 December 2022 from 9 AM to 11 AM at EO Tan Hall, DOST-PCAARRD, Los Baños, Laguna, and via Facebook Live. Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., DOST Secretary, will grace the occasion alongside Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, UPOU Chancellor and LBSCFI President, and Hon. Anthony F. Genuino, Mayor of the Municipality of Los Baños, Laguna.  This is also the occasion to open the SyenSaya 2022 Wonderama Virtual Exhibit.

The Technology Forum will take place on the second day of the event on 6 December 2022 from 9 AM to 11:30 AM via Zoom and Facebook Live. The said forum will feature “Say Yes to S&T in Economy Development Importance of S&T in Shaping Economy” by Dr. Leah J. Buendia, Undersecretary for Research and Development Office, DOST, and  “Mamamayan, may ambag ka! Role of the community in strengthening economic resilience” by Diane Gail L. Maharja, OIC Director, Innovation Staff-National Economic Development Authority (NEDA). 

On the last day of the event, teh Awarding and Closing Ceremony will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research Agriculture (SEARCA) Auditorium and be broadcasted via Facebook Live. Dr. Juanito T. Batalon, Jr., Chair, LBSC R&D Awards Committee and OIC, Office of the Executive Director R&D, Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) will announce the winners of the Youth Science Awards, Philippine Agriculture and Resources Research Foundation, Inc. (PAARFI) Research Development Awards (Research Category), and Dr. Aida R. Librero Award for Socio-Economic Research.
